| One of my best friends went and said he had a great time and loved the set. I'm sure I'll get a more detailed account when he gets himself in front of a computer, but that won't be until August! |

It is an awesome festival with an amazing setting and Saturday night would have been amazing.
Maybe they will play there again when I do get back their although I have been told that they never invite the same band twice for the main stage.
It would be good to hear any reviews.
Oh well, the money I saved by not going can mean I will be able to go to a couple of European tour gigs. |

here i am wit my first post on this forum. hello everyone
also .. it looks like i am the first one here who attended the show in novi sad. maybe that because i am from there. for the beginning here is a setlist (original one of course):
they performed at a shitty time: 20.45 but it didnt worried me a lot, neither did them i suppose ... some friends told me that they saw eugene that day in the city centre playing his guitar but that doesnt have to be sure, because they are barely into this all ...
this is the festival site:
some photos coming soon! |

The festival has to be seen to be believed. That is why I was so gutted not being able to go this year (bloody work). Maybe I will go back next year.
In 2006 I had dinner in the restaurant in the bottom left of the picture on the evening before the festival started. It was a lovely Serbian BBQ. |

Yes I though one of them sounded new or maybe an old one sung in another language. It is not one of the songs on the setlist unless they have a new bit added I do not know about or remember.

that was a song dedicated to Shaban Bajramovic, the king of gypsy music, maybe worldwide, but definitely of Europe. He wrote many songs for bands like Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking orchestra, Goran Bregovic and other you may heard of. He died some months ago (maybe 1-2 month), at his dunno 65-70th year. Last month the 100 violins from Budapest played in Novi Sad on the main square and also dedicated one song to him. Look up for him on Wikipedia for more details. I dont know what song did Eugene play, maybe it was Djelem, djelem the gypsy anthem, but im not sure ...
So thats an explanation for that ballad ... |
